چکیده

Today, military and commercial Spread Spectrum and CDMA transmission systems argue with security on the physical layer based on the secrecy of the seed values of static secure (and insecure) pseudorandom noise generators (PRNG). This should prevent eavesdropping and jamming [1, 2]. Confidentiality, data integrity and authenticity are usually realized in higher protocol layers [3]. Nevertheless, physical layer security is a valuable component of a high-end system security. Relying on one security layer alone is dangerous, because vulnerabilities are constantly discovered, compromising the overall system security (GSM, WLAN ...) [4]. With additional physical layer security measures, attacks on the upper security layers will be much more difficult. Furthermore, some security elements can only be realized on the physical layer (anti-jamming and low-detectability). Especially CDMA systems have a great potential to evolve their security strength with modifications proposed in this paper.

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...

Impact of Multipath Fading and Partial-Band Interference on the Performance of a COFDM/CDMA Modulation Scheme for Robust Wireless Communications

The performance of a COFDM’CDM4 radio communication system in the presence of partial-band jamming is presented where the eflects of multipath and additive noise are included The importance of interleaving and coding is emphasised and their impact on the bit error-rate performance is evaluated. In the first part of the paper, the effect of jamming on a COFDA4 system is obtained under worst-case...

Bit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)

In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
